mOlympians: Final Updates Are Coming Soon!

Hey everyone - I wanted to drop a quick note here, since we don’t expect to have the final winners announced today, and I know you’re all dying to know! Full disclosure: this is a new event format for us, and the response and participation that it generated are absolutely unprecedented, which is absolutely amazing! As a result, we’re being extra mindful when it comes to awarding prizes. Brand Report: Australia at the Olympics - Was Raygun Really All That Bad?

Here it is! My brand report on Australia at the 2024 Olympics - attached in PDF or see link at the bottom.A few points to note: Cheeky frontpage, I know. But I like to be bold and figured this would grab attention. Plus, as the report shows, breakdancing was actually a positive highlight. I focused on tier 1 & tier 2 global news outlets – this is my usual “day-job” focus area. This obviously leaves out a lot of the social coverage. I used the Brand Template but tweaked it quite a bit to help with my story-telling. In addition to an overall search for Australia at the Olympics, I used separate searches to highlight Australia’s most successful Olympic sports (swimming, athletics, cycling) + to allow for a deep-dive on Raygun – undoubtedly Australia’s most famous Olympic participant. mOlympian Brand Report- Athletes Using Social Media

🤳I’m not sure I’ve done this completely the way we were supposed to, but I have tried my best! It was mentioned that while the focus was on the Summer Olympics, we had the creative freedom to design something we would personally find useful or interesting within that theme.So, using everything I’ve learned so far on Boolean searches and such, below is my attempt at a Brand Report, which I tried to focus on how Olympic athletes were using social media during the timeframe of the Games. Being in the social media field myself, and enjoying many of the posts the athletes were posting, I thought this could be a good chance to practice using this topic and the project at hand (some of my favorite content creators/athletes were from the female US rugby player, Ilona Maher - and the US pole vaulter, Katie Moon (who just so happens is an alum of my college!) That’s why we’re so excited to host our own Summer Games here in mCommunity, designed to recognize your industry skills while you grow your Meltwater knowledge and experience. mOlympian Paris 2024 Brand Report

I probably watched more of the Olympics than the average viewer and I was curious about whether news back here in the states impacted the amount of coverage. My search and dashboard showed a drop in media mentions during the second half of the games. My real job needs me to focus on other dashboards, reports and projects this week, but if I were the coms manager of USOC, NBC Sports or the IOC, I would want to go back and do a few other searches to see if coverage of the 2024 Presidential Race increased as coverage of the Olympics decreased. My dashboard got me very curious about that question and to also do a closer news vs. social breakdown on games.
