Engage: Publish: Instagram Collab posts + Media Attachment Validation Improvements

Last week was a busy one for Engage updates - we’re happy to announce new features to help broaden your reach and simplify media posts.Publish: Reach a Wider Audience with Instagram Collab Posts 👯 See it in action Media Attachment Validation Improvements + 4 New Error Messages How does it work? New error messages Learn more in the Help Center   Publish: Reach a Wider Audience with Instagram Collab Posts 👯Instagram Collab posts allow two or more creators to come together to craft a Feed Post or Reel, and seamlessly share it on each collaborator’s profile simultaneously. This has been a top request among Engage users, and we’re excited to support this Instagram feature directly in Engage: Publish ✨ Reach a wider audience: Leveraging an Instagram Collab post with another brand or creator allows you to tap into each other’s audience, broadening your reach collectively. It’s a win-win scenario, unlocking new avenues for all involved parties to connect with fresh, untapped audiences. Increase engagement: Collaborative posts often witness heightened engagement rates, fueled by the excitement of fans of all sides. Not to mention, the post is shared across both feeds and audiences, amplifying your message and increasing raw potential for engagement 💫 See it in action   Media Attachment Validation Improvements + 4 New Error Messages While Engage boasts a 99% successful publish rate, there is always room to improve the publishing experience for the 1% that fail. One of the top reasons why posts fail is due to media validation issues, or when a user has included an attached image, video, or gif that does not fit the current requirements for the channel (ex: the file is too large, aspect ratio is incorrect, etc.). This can result in the social channel rejecting the message and preventing it from posting, or Engage preventing the media from being attached altogether. We’ve expanded the parameters that media is checked against when uploaded (via Publish and Conversations), and removed some requirements that no longer apply. This brings Engage requirements into better alignment with individual social channels, and should only be felt by you in terms of your failure rates decreasing. The workflow for uploading attached media remains unchanged. We’ve also updated the mapping for error codes from social channels to ensure more helpful error messages, as well as introducing four new messages. How does it work?Media validation applies to:Media (images, video, gifs) added to posts in Publish Custom thumbnails uploaded to Facebook and Instagram videos Media added to Conversations responses Media is reviewed against:Aspect ratio Dimension Resolution File size Video Length * File types Max frames * Bitrate * Video codec * Audio codec * Audio bitrate *  Audio channels ** Video parameter onlyFor full information on capabilities for social posts in Engage, check out our Help Center article: Publish: What Options are Channel-specific for Meltwater Engage? New error messagesThe four new error messages introduced with this update are as follows:Native Channel Issue: The native channel has returned an unknown error. This is usually a temporary issue that self-corrects quickly. Check the native channel status, and if it is not down, please retry. If the issue persists, reconnection may be required. Multiple Companies Open: This post failed because there are multiple browser tabs open, which are logged into different company accounts. Please close any unneeded tabs and retry the post. Media Upload Issue: This post failed because the media did not finish uploading. Please re-upload the media and try the post again. Invalid Mention: The native channel’s API has rejected this post because it contained an invalid mention. Please adjust your mention and try again. Learn more in the Help CenterPublish: What Options are Channel-specific for Meltwater Engage? Troubleshoot Publishing Error Messages

Engage: Meta Updates to Facebook Metrics

Exciting news from the digital frontiers: Meta is making changes to their Facebook metrics in its native reporting and API! March 2024 marks the debut of some key changes in the way we analyze our social media success. If you're keen to dive deeper, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and explore their original announcement. Now, let's chat about what this means for Engage. The deprecation only impacts three metrics in Engage:‘Page fans by gender and age’ has become ‘Impressions by age and gender’ ‘Page fans by gender and age’ provided the demographics of people following your page. It is being replaced by the new ‘Impressions by age and gender’ metric. ‘Impressions by age and gender’ will now provide the demographics of people viewing your posts. You can expect ‘Impressions by age and gender’ to be a smaller number compared to ‘Page fans by gender and age.’ Though smaller, we believe this metric will be more insightful and dynamic as it looks at the people consuming your content. By comparison, the demographic of Page followers are not likely to change significantly over time. The updated metric will impact the Facebook Overview templates (both legacy and in Measure). ‘Page-engaged users’ has become ‘Post-engaged users’ ‘Page-engaged users’ provided engagement activity at the Page level for a given time frame.  The new ‘Post-engaged users’ provides engagement activity at the post level for all posts published within a given time frame. What’s the key difference? There’s nuance here. ‘Page-engaged users’ did not consider the publish date of posts. So, for example, let’s say your time frame is the past 7 days. If a post published 12 months ago received engagement in the past 7 days, the ‘Page-engaged users’ metric would capture it. Differently, ‘Post-engaged users’ only captures activity from posts published within the past 7 days.  The updated metric will impact the Facebook Overview templates (both legacy and in Measure). Engagement rate has been recalculated Facebook recently recalculated the engagement rate in its native reporting. Previously, it was calculated by dividing total engagement by post-engaged users. Now, It calculates it by dividing total engagements by reach. We have recalculated our engagement rate to match Facebook’s new formula (total engagements divided by reach). The change will drive greater consistency between the reporting you do across native and in Engage. The updated calculation will impact the Cross-Channel Overview and Facebook Overview templates (both legacy and in Measure). The changes went into effect on March 21, 2024, and only impact data from March 21, 2024 onward. Historical Data Updates But wait, there's more!We will now store historical data across Conversations, Publish, and Measure for as long as you are a customer. Previously, on average, we stored and surfaced data for no longer than 15 months. *This will continue to be 15 months for X/Twitter replies and mentions. Going beyond 15 months of data will help you in a number of ways. You’ll be able to run reports looking at your performance over multiple years, revisit an old thread with a loyal fan, or view analytics of your best-performing posts from years past.

Engage Publish: Best Time to Post, plus Validation Updates for Multiple Platforms

Helping you optimize your posting schedule for maximum engagement. Best Time to Post What is it? What’s the value?  How does it work?  Validation Updates for Multiple Platforms What is it? What’s the value?  How does it work?  Best Time to Post What is it?Introducing Best Time to Post, an AI-powered tool designed to help you pick the optimal time to schedule and post social content.  What’s the value? Eliminate guesswork Optimize content performance, maximize engagement The timing of a social media post is crucial in ensuring its optimal visibility and engagement from fans. Best Time to Post takes the guesswork out of picking when to schedule content by using AI to suggest the most optimal times to maximize engagement. Our algorithm uses a collection of over 4.1 billion social posts across all time zones to provide you with precise suggestions for your social media posts, tailored to each day of the week and each social media platform. How does it work? Meltwater regularly collects and synthesizes data on all social posts and their engagement both published from Meltwater and native social channels. This data forms the backbone of our algorithm, ensuring a wide-reaching and comprehensive understanding of social media interactions. We refine this data to meet each social media channel's specific requirements. Engagement patterns on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube are each distinctly modeled. We are able to calculate the expected engagement for each hour of the day, providing a unique engagement model for each day of the week, per social channel. Our refinement process extends further to normalizing the data for each specific day and different time zones. We develop separate models for each day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) and for each of the three major timezone clusters (EMEA, AMER, APAC). This allows us to compute the probability of engagement for each hour compared to the other hours on that same day. This enables us to accurately capture the natural ebb and flow of social media engagement throughout the day, helping us identify peak hourly periods when your audience is most active and responsive.  This empowers you with actionable insights to strategically time your posts for maximum impact and engagement.  In Publish, under the Post Time drop-down, users must select Schedule date and time.  Beside the date and time selector, will appear the new Best time option.   Clicking Best time will open a new pop-up, featuring a bar chart, and up to five (5) suggested times to schedule the post.   The bar chart features engagement rate averages per hour for the selected day.  Below the chart is a link to a help center article, featuring further details and explanations of how this feature works.  These recommended times are based on the average number of engagements across 4.1 billion pieces of collected social content.  What if I select more than one social channel? The recommendation will take all selected social channels into account. This is based on the percentage of volume on those channels. Meaning, if Facebook has a higher engagement percentage than LinkedIn, naturally the recommendation will favor Facebook, to maximize engagement.  Select a recommended time for your post, and click schedule to finish! Validation Updates for Multiple Platforms What is it?Based on the latest APIs, we’ve updated the valid character counts and file sizes for TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook publishing. Facebook Increased video max size to 3 GB Increased image max size to 8MB LinkedIn Increased video max size to 5 GB TikTok Increased character count to 2200 Increased video length to 10 minutes  What’s the value? Updating the validation rules allows Engage to respect each platform's currently defined posting limitations (as defined by their API documentation). Staying current with these limitations eliminates user confusion and reduces the need for users to work inside the native platforms. How does it work? The new validation rules will automatically be applied and respected when users publish to the above platforms using Engage. In other words, users don’t need to do anything special.
