Views vs Estimated views channels

Hi team,

I saw that in your platform you have Views and Estimated Views as metrics to represent the viewability of the contents. However, I was wondering about where I can see which platforms share Views metric and the others that shows Estimated Views metric.

Per my exported data, I saw that we have a mix of channels for each one of them.

Thanks in advance,

Andi.

To build on what @Laura Stewart mentioned:

The difference comes from the type of content, not the channel itself.

    • Estimated Views
      • Used for editorial / news content (articles from websites, blogs, etc.).
      • It’s an algorithmic estimate of how many times an article was viewed, based on the publication’s monthly page views and number of articles.
    • Views
      • Used for social video content.
      • This is the actual video view count from platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

So in your export, the mix you’re seeing is expected:

    • News/articles → Estimated Views
    • Social video posts → Views

There isn’t a fixed “channel list” for each metric - it’s more about whether the content is editorial or social video.

Hi @apassos thanks for the question - that’s correct different channels will allow for different data, this is typically due to API restrictions.

There isn’t a doc that compiles this in one view but generally speaking:

    • Editorial content and some social media channels like Facebook & Instagram will be work with Estimated Views
    • Channels like TikTok, YouTube and other will provide view counts directly from the API.
