We’re excited to introduce a significant update to the Australian journalist and newsroom database within your Media Relations tool.

The database has been updated to include broader media coverage, more accurate contact information, and enhanced journalist and newsroom profiles—making it easier to connect with the right contacts and strengthen your outreach efforts in Australia.

What’s New

The updated Australian database now includes:

  • Expanded journalist profiles, including direct email addresses.

  • More accurate and verified contact details to improve communication reliability

  • Broader newsroom coverage, with updated outlet information and leadership roles

Why it Matters

This enhancement helps you:

  • Improve targeting – Connect with the right journalists using up-to-date, verified contact details

  • Build stronger media relationships – Eliminate outdated contact info and establish more credible, timely outreach

Increase pitch effectiveness – Deliver more relevant and personalized pitches to the right audiences, improving response rates

How it Works

Follow these steps to explore the enhanced Australian journalist and newsroom listings:

  1. Click the Media Relations drop-down in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Click on Search

  3. Use the Location filter to select Australia. Learn more about Searching for Journalists and Sources by Location.

  1. Refine your results using additional filters such as Beat, Topic, or Outlet Type, depending on your campaign needs.

💡 Pro Tip

Thanks! I joined the AU chapter because I want to improve media relations in AU. My company is based in Melbourne, but I’m in the US, making learning about the media and building relationships very difficult. I’m also targeting trade media and it is seemingly very different in AU. I would love any tips or to learn best practices from the pros here!

Hi @JenCas you’ve come to the right place.

One tip to target specific publications would be the source name filter in the search function:

    1. Open Media Relations

    2. Navigate to Search

    3. Using the Source Name filter you can search for specific Trade Publications

We also hosted an APAC training session today on Media Relations, where many Australian coms professional were in attandance. Here is the recording in case the timing didn’t work you for you.

📢 I’ll open this to the wider Australian Chapter Floor! Any tips for Jen?
