Once you’ve created your search, share it in this thread for feedback so we can all work together to help polish and perfect it!

Pro tip: You’ll earn points both for submitting your Boolean string and for giving feedback on others’ posts in this thread!

There is no bonus for “winning” this week’s challenge. The goal is to learn together and create the best possible search, which will score you points now and benefit you down the line when it comes time to create your report in Week 3!

Use this format to share your boolean (the example included is a search for Food Bank for New York City created with the AI Search Assistant and is meant for illustrative purposes only):

  • Organization: Food Bank for New York City
  • Boolean:

  • Any tips or tricks you discovered/learned from creating this search? Any specific feedback you’re looking for?
I didn’t know before that I could get the AI Search Assistant to translate my terms and keywords! I added Spanish translations - do you think there are any other languages I should include?

Now that you’ve got your mission, it’s time to embark on the adventure of a lifetime! And don’t forget to share your Brand & Campaign Search in the comments 👇

I tried to create an advanced search, but I didn’t have permissions to save it. However, this is what the Platform Assistant helped me create:

Organization: Trans Lifeline

Boolean Code/String:

!! This part of the query searches for Trans Lifeline mentions !!
("Trans Lifeline" OR "translifeline.org")

!! This part of the query includes various support and advocacy terms !!
AND ("trans support" OR "crisis hotline" OR "peer support" OR "transgender community" OR "mental health resources" OR "nonprofit organization" OR "direct aid" OR "financial assistance" OR "name change assistance" OR "microgrants" OR "community support" OR "LGBTQ+ advocacy" OR "suicide prevention" OR "gender-affirming care" OR "trans safety" OR "emergency funds" OR "mutual aid" OR "harm reduction" OR "crisis intervention" OR "helpline" OR "trans justice" OR "trans empowerment" OR "recursos de salud mental" OR "apoyo comunitario" OR "asistencia financiera" OR "seguridad trans" OR "prevención del suicidio" OR "ayuda mutua" OR "intervención en crisis" OR "justicia trans" OR "empoderamiento trans")

For me, I learned that between ChatGPT and the Platform Assistant I can create really complex nd advanced boolean strings that will offer a lot of precision to my searches. That’s really powerful!

Great job @DEClarke! Your boolean looks great and I agree with this feedback!

Not sure if it’s the most perfect way to do it, but when I did mine, I made sure to specify the location of my organization (Cincinnati) to include in the Boolean. The AI assistant helped me make sure to include it correctly (ex: “org name” AND “location name”)

The AI Search Assistant is extremely helpful to help narrow down what your needs are for the search.

I so agree, @Maria Dehne. This was a great reminder to use that tool to improve my own work on the day-to-day.

Hi @amecham. This is a great question. Try adding in some NOTs for what you don’t want included, i.e. “Bow Foodbank” NOT (“Bow Foodbank London” OR “London”). That may help.

  • Any tips or tricks you discovered/learned from creating this search? Any specific feedback you’re looking for? Through research and with the help of AI, I was able to find additional keywords and programs/campaigns the organization has implemented. AI also helped me find the involvement Active Minds has had in Spanish mental health programs, such as SantaMente! This helped expand my search. One question I have is: should we exclude press releases from our queries as the example format suggests, or do we have the option to include them?

@DEClarke Great job on this comprehensive query! I completely agree that AI platforms like Meltwater’s assistant and ChatGPT are powerful tools. ChatGPT even provided insights on my organization's expansion into Spanish-speaking mental health programs—something I wouldn’t have known otherwise! 😁

  • One question I have is: should we exclude press releases from our queries as the example format suggests, or do we have the option to include them?

@MeganJMF, you don’t have to exclude press releases; however, the releases are likely content you and/or your team created, so including them would just be a redundant in that case. At least that’s why I opted to not include them in my own response. I hope that helps.

Love that you were able to do this!

Hi @amecham! Love the organization you chose! This one is super tricky. I tested a basic query - ("Bow Foodbank") OR ("Foodbank" AND "Bow") OR ("Food bank" AND "Bow") - but none of the 18 mentions were about Bow Foodbank. They just included both the words “bow” and “foodbank.” I would stick the query into Meltwater’s AI assistant or ChatGPT and explain the issue if you haven’t already. Maybe try including their social media handles in the query as well. I hope this is helpful!

Thank you so much! I didn’t think of this! 🙂

@DEClarke - This is based on your subscription, and it means you've used all of your saved searches that you have as part of your subscription. You can use one of your saved searches (if you are able to share the content publicly and bring awareness to your brand/company. Or see if there is a search not being used that you can delete.

@Maria Dehne - were there any suggestions the AI Search Assistant gave you for your search that were unexpected? I’d love to know if it helped you catch or reframe something! 👀

@amecham - looks like you’ve gotten some good recs for narrowing down your search - be sure to follow up and let us know if you’re still stymied, or ask in this week’s live session! ✨

@MeganJMF - I love your advice to @amecham about asking the AI Search assistant for help focusing the search! I personally have a tendency to just use the Assistant as a fancy-pants thesaurus and always forget to ask for targeted help like that. This is such a great example of how to effectively use AI for someone like me who just struggles with being creative with my prompts 💕

It just generally framed the options in a more coherent way than my brain was thinking. A different perspective and options were nice!

Organization (taking this opportunity to spotlight my own org because it’s a tricky one to search sometimes due to the state abbreviations and ‘wish’ being a commonly used word!): Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana

Any tips or tricks you discovered/learned from creating this search? Any specific feedback you’re looking for? I don’t know if I made this too simple.

@KatieAtMakeAWish - I think it’s only too simple if you don’t feel like you’re getting what you need out of the search! Did your results surprise you (in either a good or bad way)? Is there something you need from the search that isn’t showing up for you?

  • I have played with the AI-learning assistant before for Boolean searches, and it is greatly helpful. I do need to refine and finesse the questions forAI prompts to improve on the tool and make them more effective. I also was impressed with the additional words it came up with, which I wouldn’t have thought of on my own.

Hi @abbyben10! I love your chosen organization as I’m a Christian myself! To answer your question, you can exclude other organizations by using “NOT”. For example, (Fellowship of Christian Athletes OR FCA) NOT (Financial Conduct Authority OR Fiat Chrysler Automobiles). I hope this helps!

Any tips or tricks you discovered/learned from creating this search?

I first tried normal searches, but found irrelevant results because my brand “Pulse” has a lot of medical connotation, whereas it is a candy for us. So I tried AI led Meltwater search, which was better, but either omitting some results or giving some medical related mention. Then I went to ChatGPT, and asked to give me Boolean query for Meltwater, and I gave a perfect query in after some Q&A.

Any specific feedback you’re looking for?

I want to know how I can do this better for some similar popular words used in other connotation, for examples my other brand  is “Pass Pass” which is a mouth freshener but has lot of hindi connotation.
