Let’s start with Step 1: Creating Your Basic Search!

The first step in getting value from Meltwater is setting up a search—this is how you track what’s being said about your brand, organization, industry, competitors, or key topics across news and social media. Without a search, you won’t receive alerts, generate reports, or access the insights that help you stay ahead. That’s why creating a Brand or Reputation Search is the foundation of effective media monitoring.

Step 1: Creating Your Basic Search

 

Follow these steps to quickly set up a basic search for your brand or organization:
 

1️⃣ From the Meltwater Product Home Pageclick on the search bar the top.
2️⃣ Enter your company, organization or brand name (e.g., Burt’s Bees).
3️⃣ Hit Enter to open the Explore App, where you’ll see all news and social media mentions of your brand in one place.


💡 You'll now see a content stream displaying mentions of your brand across various sources, along with analytics.

Refining Your Search with Filters

 

Your search will initially show results from all sources—news, social media, and more. To narrow it down:

1️⃣ Look under the Search Box for Filters.
2️⃣ Click on Filter Set to adjust your results.
3️⃣ Choose a filter that suits your needs. (For example: English Only | News).

Saving Your Search

 

Once you’re happy with your results, save your search so you can create reports, alerts, or newsletters.

✅ Click Save (above the keyword boxes).
✅ Give your search a descriptive name (e.g., Burt’s Bees in the News).
✅ Click Save again.
