Hey y’all! Hope all is well.

I am new to the Academy classes and was wondering which one(s) have been best for you/your organization? Which would you recommend for someone new to Meltwater and wanting to learn more!

Would love to get a list as well! Will keep an eye out for what you hear back. Thank you for asking.

Anytime! This is great info to know.

I think it really depends on what services you currently utilize/have access to in Meltwater and what your organization’s priorities are! For me, we mainly use Meltwater for media monitoring. So the Academy courses that pertain to the Meltwater media monitoring tools have been helpful so far in teaching me things that maybe I learned years ago but I’ve forgotten since we don’t use that aspect often/if at all and also some newer tips and tricks that I didn’t know about! I also like that there are courses that aren’t geared toward a specific Meltwater platform and are about marketing/communications in general! I’m always wanting to learn new things!

I have to agree with @rachelc the classes are most helpful when you have access to the different tools within Meltwater. But I have to say that since you are in the Media Monitoring space here is a link to all the courses within the academy that are available for that vertical: https://academy.meltwater.com/collections/PR_Courses

But I have to say that Creating Dashboards and PR Relations w/Meltwater are my two favorites - both the foundation & advanced levels. I think I’m also going to love taking the Crisis Management course, because it’s always better to be prepared in case something happens!

Thank you for the feedback!

Definitely agree! I can’t recall which specific course it was, but I just took one that gave tips/tricks on creating the right boolean searches, and it was incredibly helpful. I’ve had my searches set up the same way for years now, and I’m realizing there are much better ways I could’ve built them to be more relevant, so now I feel empowered to go revamp. (:

I think I just completed that one! I’m in the same boat that we’ve had our searches set up for a while, and while I don’t see myself changing them anytime soon because they are helpful right now, it’s nice to know that I can easily set up new ones/change the current ones if I need to!

What @rachelc said is 100% correct though based on reviews some courses are more popular than others. I can share an internal document with all of you that recommends training you should take based on the product you have:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/18EpUBlu7_KghVkMB3t8FC_sU_QuRhAvBGwN2nGgogsM/edit?usp=sharing

In saying that, we recently restructured mAcademy so it’s easier to have this information.

  1. From the Academy Home Page
  2. Click on the Product you have, so if you have Explore, click here:

  1. Training is then recommended and structured for you:

Would love to know if you don’t find this helpful or if you are still facing challenges with completing training.

and one more thing that might be helpful, one thing I heard a lot at Summit and through out our mCommunity Meetups, are customers saying that they are only using 10% of what the Meltwater Products can do.  The secret to unlocking the other 90% is knowing how to use Boolean to create better searches. So I highly recommend checking out our Boolean Search Resource Page in mCommunity (it’s located in under Product Help). Here you will find:

  • All Boolean Training
  • All Boolean Resource
  • All Boolean How to Videos
  • Boolean Behind The Scenes - we share the Boolean queries we used to create a lot of our social media posts

If you want to test out your Boolean and get feedback, I recommend joining our Boolean Wizards User Group. Here we have 6 practices use cases, from basic to advanced, that you can test your Boolean writing skills and we will send you feedback.

Happy learning!

Will definately check the Resource Page out. Thanks, @kelly.bebenek.

100% agree it depends. I personally find the Explore and Media Monitoring courses very helpful. :)

Although I don’t use every single aspect of every single aspect of Meltwater, I’ve found that taking mCourses that aren’t necessarily in my direct lane, are extremely helpful to have a better cohesive understanding what options there are, and if/how I COULD use other aspects of Meltwater to help our team day to day.

@Maria Dehne I feel the same way! I’ve sent my team members so many messages the past few weeks with ideas for how we could improve our strategy with other Meltwater tools 😆

That’s awesome!

I share the same feeling. Even though we aren't Klear clients, I've been exploring the possibilities and learning more about the Influencer Marketing possibilities. The platform is pretty awesome, btw!

100% agree here, I started with those courses and then as I a became interested in other products, began exploring those courses to see if they would fit with my company goals (also my self development goals).

@kelly.bebenek this was actually how I mapped out the courses I took for the contest. So it’s very helpful.

I agree with you @Maria Dehne  as well. I’ve taken several courses outside of my lane and it gave me a better understanding of how to work with the different teams that perform those functions.

The PR and media relations courses have been very helpful!

Definately recommend taking the Social Media Management with Engage and Social Listening with Explore. Cheers!

I second this rec!

Might give this a try!

Definitely love the ideas! And would also love a list
