Explore FAQ #2:
I’m seeing irrelevant content in my searches. How can I exclude keywords or make refinements?
If you’re seeing irrelevant content in your searches, there are several ways you can refine your results:
Use Boolean Operators to Exclude Terms
Your search results depend on the keywords and Boolean syntax you enter. To exclude specific words or phrases, use the NOT operator. For example, if you’re researching the beauty brand Dove but want to exclude results about Dove chocolate, you might use this Boolean string:
(Dove NOT (chocolate OR candy))
Add Qualifying Keywords
If you find yourself needing to exclude many terms, consider adding more specific keywords to help focus your search. Yu can use the AND or NEAR operators to tie your main brand or topic to relevant contexts. For example:
(Dove AND (beauty OR shampoo OR conditioner OR soap OR "body wash"))
See a complete list of our Boolean operators in The Complete Boolean Library.
