Boolean Update: New Company Events Operator
Userlevel 7

Meltwater now offers Boolean Support for Company Events. You can find results of high-impact business events for your business, sector, or competition in Explore.

What is it?

  • When writing boolean in Advanced Search within Explore, use the following dedicated boolean for event searching -
    • event:
    • eventCompany:

How does it work?

Our AI scans every news article for the presence of a company event and labels the article with the company involved and the type of the event.

When writing boolean in Advanced Search within Explore, use the following dedicated boolean for event searching:

  • event:
  • eventCompany:

These can be used independently, together, and/or combined with any other boolean available in Explore. Using these new boolean operators together allows you to search for events from a specific company.

event:

  • Use this for finding documents of a specific event.
  • Supports wildcards.

  • Note event: supports the following event types: acquisition, award, capacity_expansion,  capacity_reduction, civil_law, conference_participation, criminal_law, customer_win, cyber_attack, esg, executive_appointment, executive_departure, executive_replacement, fundraising, headcount_growth, headcount_reduction, info_leak, insolvency, ipo, launch, market_expansion, merger, neutral_financial_results, partnership, pr_problem, restructuring, strategy, strong_financial_results,  valuation_change, valuation_decrease, valuation_increase, weak_financial_results

eventcompany:

  • Use this to search for events from a specific company.
  • Supports the same list of companies available for Events alerts and company entity in Explore (ex. Microsoft, Apple, Nike). If a company is unfound, use this feedback form

What’s the value?

  • Research and gather deeper context - Boolean support brings the value of  Events alerts to Explore, thus allowing you to research, drill down, and gather deeper context about events happening across your business, competition, and industry.

  • Democratizing insights to anyone - Boolean support for Events increases the ability for anyone to write queries for company events. Previously, you would have needed to be a boolean expert to get similar results.
