I had a similar issue.
Ultimately, what I ended up doing was creating a tag for the posts across all platforms. Unfortunately, Meltwater doesn’t seem to be able to add metrics if you add a tag after the fact.
I was doing a campaign, and using 4 different social media profiles. I left the tag off one of the posts, and when I realized what I had done, I went back in and added the tag after the fact.
When I look at the analytics though, both through Engage and through the native platform (in this case Facebook), I can see Facebook shows I had more than 100 engagements, where as Meltwater Engage shows 0, because the engagement happened BEFORE I added the tag.
Good luck.
John
Hey there @texmeix - thanks for reaching out! I’ve passed your question along to our Support team to see if they have any insights here. That said, Facebook and Instagram require users of monitoring platforms to authenticate their account prior to monitoring. Have you already set up those connections, and is it possible that the connections have expired? For more information on setting up Facebook and Instagram in Explore, check out the Help Center article here: How to Set up Monitored Connections (Facebook & Instagram)
LinkedIn also requires authentication, and you will need to be also using Engage with LinkedIn connected in order to access LinkedIn data in Explore - do you have your LinkedIn account connected?
Apologies if this is all a bit basic, but I think these things can be easy to overlook! If this doesn’t cover what’s happening for you please let me know and we’ll follow up with our Support team
I have also done what @John Chambers suggests-- creating a tag and manually marking each post and comment with the tag on the backend of Meltwater
Hi @texmeix!
Beth here from Meltwater Product Support. Great question! The approach to set up your account for hashtag post reporting will depend on the specific applications included in your Meltwater subscription. I can see that you have Explore.
For Facebook:
- To start capturing Facebook content, you'll need to add the Facebook pages you want to track first. You can do this via Account → Monitored Connections → Facebook → Monitored Pages. When you add your pages, we'll automatically backfill, so your past posts containing the hashtags will be available. This can take up to six hours after you add the page.
For Instagram:
- I noticed that you're already monitoring the hashtag, which means you'll be gathering public posts with that hashtag from the moment you added it moving forward. The Instagram API does not support backfilling.
For TikTok:
- Meltwater collects a limited sample of TikTok content, accessible to all Explore users. It's possible that the profiles using your hashtag might not be available in our data pool. I'll arrange for your account manager to contact you to explore potential solutions.
For Twitter:
- Your subscription grants you access to the entire Twitter firehose, so you should see those results right away.
For LinkedIn:
- LinkedIn posts are available as owned social content only - more details on that below!
If you're interested in reporting on your owned social channel post performance, you also might find our Social Analytics report templates helpful! The Social Analytics reports use first-party data from your owned connected social accounts to populate content. Looks like John and Maria have mentioned the Cross Channel Tag report in their responses earlier in thread as well
I’ll ask your account manager to review this option with you, in case it might be helpful for your use case.
I hope this useful, please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
