If you've ever built a search or report and thought: “Wait… this isn’t my company…”

You're not alone. Sometimes entities share the exact same name and that can make your Explore results have irrelevant results.

This post will walk you through how to filter out the one(s) you don’t want and make sure your content stays relevant.

Why This Happens

Explore pulls in content from millions of global sources, so it’s not uncommon to see mentions that aren’t actually about your brand, especially if your company name is shared by other organizations or includes a common word.

Think: Delta the airline ✈️ vs. Delta Faucet 🚰 vs. Delta Electronics 🔋.

The good news? There are simple ways to fix that.

💡 Tip: Do Some Recon

Before you build your search, do a little detective work:

  • Visit both companies’ websites and socials
  • Look for unique terms, locations, or industries
  • Identify keywords that are commonly associated with the other brand
  • Use those distinctions to help shape (or refine) your search

Use what you find to guide your search terms or feed those keywords into the AI Search Assistant so it knows exactly what to exclude.

Create a Brand Search with Exclusions

In Explore, start by using the AI Search Assistant to build you brand search - it’s quick, helpful and does the heavy lifting for you. If your brand shares a name with others (like "Delta"), you’ll want to add exclusions right away to keep your results clean.

Type a prompt like:

“Create a brand search for Delta Airlines but exclude Delta Faucet and Electronics.”

The AI Search Assistant will do the following:

  • Focus on the brand you do want (e.g., Delta Airlines)

  • Add relevant industry and product keywords

  • Automatically filter out unrelated terms (like faucet, sink, or electronics)

Once your search is built, give it a quick review and click Save

If you're happy with the results, you're all set!
