What Is Klear?

Klear is Meltwater's advanced influencer marketing platform. It enables you to find and vet influencers, manage campaigns end-to-end, communicate directly with collaborators, and measure campaign ROI — all in one place.

What you can do with Klear:

  • Discover influencers by topic, keyword, or visual style using machine learning
  • Vet influencers by reviewing engagement data, audience demographics, and content history
  • Create and manage influencer campaigns with built-in briefs and approval workflows
  • Communicate directly with influencers via Klear Connect messaging
  • Track influencer information, shipping addresses, and campaign notes in one place
  • Measure campaign ROI with real-time analytics, interactive charts, and downloadable reports

Key Concepts

  • Klear Dashboard Your central hub when you log in. When fully built out, it displays recent campaigns, suggests influencers that may suit your brand, and provides shortcuts to key areas of the platform.
  • Discovery Tab The main search area for finding new influencers. Supports three search types — Topic, Keyword, and Visual — each powered by machine learning. Results can be filtered by platform, location, influence level, and Vetted status.
  • Topic Search A search type that identifies thought leaders in a specific area (e.g. Yoga, Fashion, DIY, Travel). Returns influencers for whom that topic is a core area of expertise and audience engagement. Best for finding established voices in a given discipline.
  • Keyword Search A search type that finds influencers who have posted content referencing a specific phrase, hashtag, or brand name. Casts a wider net than Topic search because it captures any profile that has mentioned the keyword, not just recognised experts. Supports Boolean logic for multi-keyword queries.
  • Visual Search A search type that uses advanced image analysis to find content matching a description or style. Can be driven by a text prompt, an uploaded reference image (up to 10 MB), or an existing campaign to find similar content.
  • Profiles Tab Where you look up an influencer directly by social handle. Supports Instagram Business/Creator accounts, and other supported platforms. Searching by handle returns the influencer's complete Klear profile.
  • Vetted Influencers Influencers who have authenticated their social media profiles on Klear by creating a registered account. Being Vetted indicates that the influencer is familiar with collaborating via Klear and has opted in to being discoverable by brands.
  • Klear Profile (Influencer) A detailed view of an individual influencer's performance data. Contains four primary tabs: Overview (engagement summary), Demographics (audience breakdown), Content (past posts), and Analytics (platform-specific trends and metrics including Followers, Likes, Comments, Shares, Engagement Rate, Reach, and Earned Media Value).
  • Earned Media Value (EMV) A metric that estimates the monetary value of influencer-generated content based on engagements, reach, and platform benchmarks. Available at the influencer profile level and aggregated across campaigns in the Measure tab.
  • Campaign Tab The section where you manage active influencer campaigns. Contains sub-tabs for Members (influencer data and CRM), Connect (direct messaging and collaboration), and Measure (ROI reporting and analytics).
  • Klear Connect The built-in direct messaging service that lets you communicate with influencers from within Klear. All messages and content submissions are logged in the Connect tab. Influencers receive both email and in-app notifications for new messages and can respond via either channel.
  • Members Tab Displays all influencers added to a campaign. Acts as an internal CRM system, storing shipping addresses, email addresses, influencer preferences, and custom notes. Up to 10 metrics can be displayed as columns and are only visible to account users.
  • Measure Tab The reporting area inside a campaign. Contains two sub-tabs: Overview (high-level totals for posts, engagements, reach, sales, and EMV) and Analytics (interactive charts with time-based trends, social network breakdowns, top influencers, top content, and audience demographics).
  • Campaign Report A downloadable summary of all campaign insights. Includes a campaign summary, audience demographics, top-performing content, and granular data. Can be exported as a PDF or an editable Google Doc for sharing with stakeholders.
  • Klear Academy An online learning resource for deeper Klear training and certification. Available at academy.meltwater.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Topic search and a Keyword search?

A Topic search returns influencers who are recognised thought leaders in that field — people for whom the topic is a core part of their identity and audience. A Keyword search returns any influencer who has posted content mentioning that phrase or hashtag, making it a broader net useful for niche or brand-specific terms.

What is Visual Search and when should I use it?

Visual Search uses image analysis to find content that matches a style or aesthetic. Use it when you want influencers whose content visually aligns with your campaign. You can drive the search with a text description, an uploaded reference image, or by selecting an existing campaign.

How do I search for a specific influencer I already know?

Use the Profiles tab. Select the correct social network, type the influencer's @handle into the search bar, and their profile will appear in the drop-down. Note that Instagram profiles must be set to Business or Creator account to be searchable.

What does 'Vetted' mean for an influencer?

A Vetted influencer has created a registered Klear account and authenticated their social media profiles. This confirms they are familiar with Klear collaboration workflows and have opted in to being discoverable by brands.

What data is available on an influencer's Klear profile?

The Overview tab shows engagement summaries across platforms. The Demographics tab shows audience breakdowns (age, gender, location). The Content tab shows past posts with likes, comments, reach, engagement rate, and EMV. The Analytics tab shows follower growth trends, average views and engagements over time, and Instagram Stories data where available.

How do I communicate with influencers in Klear?

Through the Connect tab inside a campaign. An influencer must first be invited to the campaign before you can message them. Once they accept, you can send messages directly in Klear. Influencers receive both email and in-app notifications and can respond via either channel.

How does Klear track campaign content?

Klear automatically aggregates posts that contain your campaign's tracking keywords, hashtags, or brand handles. These are entered when you set up the campaign under Finish Setup. Content is then captured and reported under the Measure tab.

What is the difference between the Measure Overview and Analytics tabs?

Overview provides high-level totals: total posts, engagements, reach, sales, and EMV. Analytics provides interactive, real-time charts broken down by time period, social network, content type, top influencers, top content, and audience demographics. Analytics also supports custom filters.

How do I create a campaign report to share with stakeholders?

Inside the Measure tab, click the document icon in the top right. Choose PDF for a ready-to-share version, or Editable Version to export as a Google Doc where you can add custom branding. The report is emailed to your inbox within 5–10 minutes.

Where can I get additional help with Klear?

Use the chat feature in the bottom-right of your Klear home screen to speak with a product expert. You can also visit the Klear Academy at academy.meltwater.com for in-depth training and certification, or join mCommunity at community.meltwater.com to connect with other Klear users.
