We are thrilled to announce the beta release of the AI Search Assistant, a powerful Generative AI chatbot designed to make building searches in Explore easy as talking with a colleague . This assistant is trained on Meltwater’s Boolean, offers invaluable support in generating, expanding, and refining searches, while also educating you on how to write high-quality searches that will help you get insights faster.
Introducing Your AI Search Assistant
The Search Assistant helps users of all levels craft accurate and effective searches more quickly and with fewer errors, allowing you to focus on making data-driven decisions. Whether you're monitoring your brand, gathering competitive intelligence, managing a crisis, or measuring campaign success, the Search Assistant simplifies the query-writing process.
How the AI Search Assistant Helps you
The Search Assistant addresses three main applications:
- Generate a new search:
- Create a Brand/Industry Search Prompt: These prompts have been trained to generate search queries for this specific use cases. When you select a prompt, the Search Assistant will ask you a series of questions to understand your need.
- Create a search from scratch: Go off script and just tell the Search Assistant what type of search you want it to create.
- Improve:
- Refine an existing search: Take an existing search and add more topics to broaden or expand on a search string, or suggest additional operators to narrow results.
- Review and repair: Take an existing search and the Assistant will identify syntax errors or ways to improve your search
- Translate:
- Translate search: The Assistant can translate search terms to different languages, it can handle conversations in over 90 languages.
Accessing the Search Assistant
You can access the Search Assistant from a few places:
Home Page:
The search bar on the Meltwater home screen has been updated to include a link to Explore and a new card has been included in the More From Meltwater carousel. Both take you to Explore, where you can launch the AI Assistant.

Once in Explore, the AI Search Assistant can be accessed via the banner at the top of the page, from the Advanced Search page, as well as the Custom Category pop-up.

Using the Search Assistant
Once you click on the AI Search Assistant Button, a new page will open with several prompts to choose from:
- Create brand search
- Create industry search
- Expand my current search
- Narrow down my current search
- Review and repair my current search
- Translate my current search
Choose a prompt to get started. From there, you will interact with the assistant via the text box at the bottom of the page in the same way you would with other chatbots, like Chat-GPT.
- Note: the conversation is maintained even after you close the assistant window (i.e. it will be available if you open the assistant from Explore again). It is only cleared once you log out of Meltwater or by clicking the "New chat" button.
Getting Familiar with the AI Search Assistant
The AI Search Assistant home page is broken into the following areas:
- Templated prompts - click to run one
- Chat bow - type your questions, requests, and more, here
- Send message - click to send your responses to the search assistant. Alternatively, press enter to send.
- Provide feedback - The search assistant can make mistakes. Please let us know if it does via this feedback link.
- New chat - click to start a new chat and erase previous chat history
- Exit - close the AI Search Assistant
When will you have Access
We began rolling out the AI Search Assistant today, May 29. We will be adding users daily, and all English-speaking users will have access by June 12.
