Education Roundtable: Building and Maintaining a Crisis Communications Plan

About this event

In this month’s Education Roundtable, we’re discussing a priority many institutions are revisiting right now: how to build and maintain a crisis communications plan that is practical, adaptable, and ready when it’s needed most.

From campus safety incidents and operational disruptions to reputational challenges and fast-moving social issues, education communicators are often expected to respond quickly under pressure. Having a crisis communications plan in place is critical, but keeping that plan current, actionable, and aligned across departments can be an ongoing challenge. This discussion will focus on how education teams are preparing for crisis scenarios, maintaining readiness over time, and ensuring stakeholders know how to respond when situations escalate.

This session is not a webinar. It’s an open, peer-led conversation created for education communications, PR, marketing, and public affairs professionals who want a space to share experiences, compare approaches, and learn how peers are preparing for high-pressure situations.

We’ll Discuss:

  • What lessons institutions have learned from recent crisis situations or communications missteps
  • How teams coordinate messaging across students, parents, faculty, staff, media, and the broader public
  • How monitoring and real-time insights help teams identify issues early and respond more effectively
  • How institutions prepare leadership and spokespeople for high-pressure communications
  • What processes help institutions review, update, and strengthen crisis plans over time

This roundtable is part of Meltwater’s Industry Circles program—client-only spaces inside mCommunity where professionals in similar sectors connect, collaborate, and learn how others are using Meltwater to solve real-world challenges in their day-to-day roles.

This session has limited availability, and registration will close once all 35 seats have been filled.
